Medieval Godzilla hand-coloured woodcut print
This hand-coloured woodcut print depicts Godzilla, reimagined as a medieval woodcut.
The design was carved into a 10mm piece of lime wood, measuring 30x22.5cm.
After creating the woodcut print, I hand-coloured this piece with gouache. This emulates the style of medieval woodcuts further, which were often coloured in the same fashion. The colour scheme is a mixture of the 1978 Hanna-Barbera cartoon and Godzilla 2000.

Each print has its own idiosyncrasies due to the traditional printing process, making each piece completely unique. The paper is hand-stained by me with an alkaline tea solution, with each sheet exhibiting different marks and shades of colour. As this piece is also hand-coloured, it is even more unique than my other prints.
